Renovation of a mixed-use development in Durham, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.
This project establishes an Architect-Engineering (A-E) design contract for the Durham VA Medical Center to provide professional services for replacing Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Auxiliary Chillers. The work includes designing replacements for AHUs 5, 25, and 65, and four existing auxiliary chillers. The selected A-E firm will perform investigative services, including site surveys, verification of existing conditions, and conceptual design development. Responsibilities include preparing contract drawings and specifications, developing phased construction strategies to minimize operational disruptions, and ensuring compliance with VA standards and applicable codes. The firm will also provide construction period services such as reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, preparing record drawings, and commissioning affected systems. Additional tasks include monthly site visits, participation in inspections, and documentation of field reports. The consolidated estimated magnitude of construction for all projects is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000, and the contract will be a Single Award Task Order Contract (SATOC) with a five-year performance period.
