PROJECT DESCRIPTION Based on our correspondence, site design drawings, and preliminary tank drawings provided, it is our understanding the following apply to the project: WithersRavenel has been selected by the Town of Rutherfordton (Town) to provide design and engineering services for a new tank at the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. The proposed tank will be designed with the following: A nominal capacity of 114,000 gallons. Foundation bearing elevation is approximately 821.00 feet. Diameter of approximately 36 feet. Cast-in-place concrete foundation with embedded starter ring. A glass fused to steel shell. A minimum 3,000 psf allowable bearing capacity. Little to no differential settlement. In addition to the tank, a grit chamber is proposed at the headwaters of the WWTP which requires investigation as well. The bottom of the proposed grit chamber is 796.00 feet. We assume the grit chamber vault will be either precast concrete or cast-in-place concrete.
