The City of Tonganoxie, in coordination with the Tonganoxie Recreation Commission, is seeking qualifications from playground equipment manufacturers or their representatives to provide design, installation services, material sourcing, and construction of custom play equipment for the Chieftain Park Playground Renovation Project. The project follows a design-build delivery method and will be located at 231 N. Main St., Tonganoxie, Kansas, within the existing playground area which will be cleared, and potentially within an expanded area. Scope includes assistance with public input collection, site field work for improvements such as drainage or surfacing, coordination with a stakeholder committee for design, formal presentations of proposed improvements, sourcing and installing selected equipment, and completing related improvements. Plans for the park improvements are to be developed as part of this project. The design should create a functional play experience for children of all abilities and may incorporate architectural, historical, and social elements from the local community. The maximum project budget is $1,000,000, and design service costs cannot exceed 8% of the contract. The City will remove existing equipment and provide a level site for installation. Key design goals include equipment replacement, possible area expansion, shade structures, improved surfacing and safety, inclusivity, and one major customizable feature. Submittals must include an introduction of the firm and subcontractors, definition of roles, and a summary of qualifications and competence.
