Description

Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Le Sueur, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

The city of Le Sueur was awarded a $221,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to finance all-new recreation opportunities for American Legion Park. The award covers up to 50% of the project costs, which consist of the installation of a new ADA-compliant trail connecting the existing sidewalk running through the park to the parking lot outside Aqua Valley Pool, the park shelter and a brand new skating loop to be located just south of the shelter. Paved with synthetic ice, the loop would provide the community with a skating experience without the need for freezing temperatures. Other improvements include eight decorative light poles to be located inside the skating loop and around the open skate area, 10 new benches surrounding the loop, a concrete patio extension to the existing shelter, and drainage work paired with native plant landscaping. As of January 2, 2026, while the grant has been accepted by the city of Le Sueur, the City Council has yet to vote on the project. If approved, construction is planned between April and June of 2026, marking the first phase of the city’s planned improvements for American Legion Park. Design team and contractor have not been identified.
