James City County issues an Invitation for Bid to obtain sealed bids from qualified and experienced firms to establish a contract with firm-fixed unit pricing for the demolition of unsafe structures at various locations on an as-needed basis. The contractor will be given exact locations and legal descriptions of structures to be demolished when demolition has been determined necessary by the County. The contractor is required to inspect each site, provide a price quote for each individual job, and submit the quote to the County. Upon issuing a Purchase Order for that site and obtaining a Land Disturbance Permit, the contractor may begin site work. Demolition work may also require the issuance of a Building Permit. No work is to begin prior to receipt of the Purchase Order, and any unauthorized work performed without a Purchase Order will be at the risk of the contractor. Work must be completed and inspected to the satisfaction of the Director of Building, Safety and Permits or other designated County staff before the invoice for payment will be approved.
