Purpose and Scope FourFront is committed to supporting the Fargo VA Health Care System in its efforts to reduce or eliminate the risk of Legionella Disease (LD) by upgrading the Domestic Water Monitoring Systems across its facilities. FourFront has conducted an on-site evaluation of the 7 existing water monitoring stations in the basement of the Medical Center and the lower level of the Boiler Plant. FourFront has also conducted on-site documentation and inventory of approximately 175 plumbing fixtures to determine the need for adding thermostatic mixing valves to existing fixtures or replacing existing faucets. Our goal is to provide design recommendations that will bring these systems up to optimum standards, focusing on preventing water contamination and ensuring the safety of both employees and patients. As part of a multi-step solution, the first step involves increasing the water temperature at the water heaters while lowering it at point-of-use fixtures. This will be achieved by installing thermostatic mixing valves to reduce temperature, effectively minimizing the risk of Legionella growth.
