Sealed bids are sought for the Klehm Arboretum gazebo roof replacement. Bidders are informed of a mandatory pre-bid meeting at the Klehm Arboretum Visitor's Center. Inspection of tongue and groove substrate to confirm acceptable condition. Substrate to be replaced only if necessary and agreed upon by FPWC. All old materials will need to be disposed of by contractor off site. The work described in these specifications represent the minimum requirements for removal and installation of the new roof for the garden gazebo: Base Project The work described in these specifications represent the minimum requirements for removal and installation of the new roof for the garden gazebo: o Remove approximately 650 sq. ft. existing cedar shake shingles and replace with new #1 Grade, 16" Western Red Cedar Shake shingles to match existing style. o Remove all existing 1" thick facia and 2" thick sub frame end pieces and replace with new cedar sub frame boards and facia to match existing shape and style. o Replace/re-build portions of valley that are rotting and replace with matching materials to provide same profile as existing. o Install new aluminum roofing "L" drip edge. o Install new self-sealing felt overtop of existing tongue and grove base. o Install new Cedar Breather Roof Ventilation Mat layer. o Install new Cedar Ridge Cap. o Does not require any post work. This will be done separately. o Contractor responsible for obtaining necessary building permit. o Contractor responsible for haul away and disposal of old materials at approved off site location. o Work to be completed during hours of M-F 7:00am to 4:30pm. o Project to be conducted and completed in order to work around scheduled events. Option #1 o If after the removal of all existing roofing materials and after close inspection it is determined that the existing tongue and groove substrate is not suitable due to significant rot and decay, and subject to WCFP approval; o Remove existing tongue and groove substrate and replace with cedar 1" x 8" tongue and groove car siding.
