Interior remodel of the Chico Police Department to allow for additional capacity for Public Safety Employees and operations. Phase 1 -Engineering and design. Phase 2 - construction. The design phase is underway with construction set to begin in FY2024-25. Preliminary costs point towards $3.5 million for the construction phase. With an existing funding balance of $190,000, O&M is requesting $3,310,000 in FY2024-25 to meet the total project need. FY25/26: $300,000 standard + $260,000 Detective offices. 1500 Humboldt Road PD Detectives Offices needs a remodel to cope with staff increases. The facility further needs to be hardened on all public-facing facades with bullet-proof glazing ($150,000). In addition, original flooring, dating from the 90's, needs to be replaced with more durable and cost-effective floor coverings (85,000). Incidental costs $25,000. New Furniture will be harvested from the additional temporary workplaces that will be installed at 411 for the interior remodel there. Hence, this will amount to a cost savings. The project is included in the City's 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
