This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Valleyview, Alberta. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.
The Municipality is seeking a qualified weed spraying company with experience in working in remote rural and remote locations with challenging terrain. The company is to complete weed control along 172 km of the Forestry Trunk Road (both east and west right-of-way, south of Highway 43 to Highway 40), 26 km on Old Huckleberry Tower Road (south of Grande Cache on Highway 40), and 36 km on the Beaver Dam Road (north of the Hamlet of Grande Cache), in both directions. The goal is the control of regulated noxious and eradication of prohibited noxious weeds on a 3-year rotation, targeting identified species including tall buttercup, scentless chamomile, Ox-eye Daisy, Common Tansy, Canada thistle, and Hawkweed Complex. Work must use a systemic, residual herbicide, provided by the Municipality, capable of controlling referenced species for 24 months or more. Right-of-ways can be rough and steep, requiring experienced applicators and a listing of available equipment for the work. The right-of-ways vary in width (30 m to 90 m) and infestations from sporadic to dense patches, demanding spot application in some areas. Efforts to minimize plant propagule spread must be documented. Spray records are to be tracked and updated as required by the Environmental Code of Practice, using the Municipality’s GIS. All work must be performed between June 15 and August 1 each year. The successful bidder will act as Prime/Main Contractor and must follow all Environmental Code of Practice for Pesticides requirements. Instructions to bidders include agreeing to the Terms and Conditions as outlined in the bid documents, providing detailed information in line with the Rated Criteria and the Schedule of Prices, and uploading a Pesticide Service Registration with an Industrial Applicator for the Province of Alberta. The successful bidder must also maintain required insurance policies with the Municipality named as additional insured, provide a cross-liability clause, and submit a Certificate of Insurance before contract execution and upon renewal or request.
