All interested parties are hereby notified that the City of Marathon is accepting sealed bids for the following project: Community Park Soccer Field Sod Refurbishment as well as Sod Refurbishment at Oceanfront Dog Park and 892 69th Street, Ocean, Marathon. The construction of this project consists of labor, materials and equipment necessary to complete the installation of the new sod, grading, and all necessary work for refurbishment of the existing soccer fields and adjacent areas. Each Bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond utilizing the bond form at Section 401, or a cashier's check drawn on a national or state bank and valid and effective for at least 120 days, payable unconditionally to the City of Marathon, in an amount of five percent (5%) of the amount of the Total Base Bid as a guarantee that the Bidder will, if award is made, execute a Contract to do the Work for the Bid amount and furnish any required certificates of insurance and bond documents within the time period specified in Article 16 of the General Conditions, Document 00700. The Bid Bond or cashier's check shall be made payable to: City of Marathon. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities, except timely submission of bids, in any bids received, to re-advertise for bids or to take any other such actions that may be deemed in the best interest of the City. As a matter of information to Bidders, the City does not bind itself to accept the minimum specifications stated herein, but reserves the right to accept any bid, which in the judgment of the City Council will best serve the needs and interests of the City. Question Deadline 02/05/2026 All inquiries and requests for clarifications or interpretations of the Bidding Documents shall be made in writing to the CITY'S REPRESENTATIVE, at least seven (7) days prior to the date for receipt of Bids. For the purpose of this Bid the CITY'S REPRESENTAITVE is Amanda Herrera and inquiries can be sent to herreraa@ci.marathon.fl.us. The Bid shall be enclosed in a sealed opaque envelope, addressed to Attn: City Clerk, City of Marathon, as stated in the Invitation to Bid. The envelope shall be further identified with the Project name and number, the Bidder's name and address, and the word "B I D". The Scope of Work consists of Soccer Fields Refurbishment and Additional Properties as listed below, located in the City of Marathon. This includes all necessary work for complete refurbishment on large and small soccer fields at Marathon Community Park, property located at 69 th Street and Oceanfront Dog Park, as delineated below. 1. All work to be completed on two soccer fields at Marathon Community Park and additional properties, namely 50 feet X 80 feet property and 120 feet X 180 feet Dog Park. Large field 120 yards X 70 yards. Small field 90 yards X 45 yards, and adjacent sodded areas, excluding baseball fields, for a total of 190,374 SF. 2. The Contractor will complete two rounds of killing existing turf. Contractor shall remove all existing turf, grass, weed and all vegetation in the designated areas. 3. Rototill existing sub grades. 4. Add 2" minimum of new top soil. 5. Roll and apply one application of fertilizer with pre-emergent. 6. Finish grade sub base with laser 7. Furnish, deliver and install Tifway 419 Bermuda Grass Rolls to Community Park, dog park, and additional property. Sod must be 100% weed free. Sod installation shall maintain a minimum of 12" from all adjacent fences and structures. 8. Provide maintenance and fertilizer schedule for proper maintenance of turf. 9. All work to be completed June 5, 2026. Note: There are existing irrigation systems and heads which will have to be accommodated for the refurbishment. Soccer fields and Dog Park will be closed during refurbishment.
