Warren Holder Park is one of the oldest parks in Henry County, first opened in the 1980s. The much-needed renovations will support the park’s continued operations for years to come and include: Concession Stand / Restroom Building – demolish the existing concession stand and install a new concession stand / restroom building. Baseball Fields – renovate and improve turf, grading and irrigation for Fields 1–7 and Field 9 using sod and laser-graded infields; and install new field fencing. Tennis Court / Pickleball Courts – remove the existing tennis courts and replace them to provide one tennis court and two pickleball courts in the existing space complete with new asphalt and new fencing. Concrete Path improvements – increase ADA accessibility and improve overall usability of the park through widening and upgrading pedestrian areas around the concession stand and adjoining walkways, improved new dugout slabs, concrete flatwork at eight ballfields and installation of 36”-high backstop walls at select fields. The estimated completion date to reopen the park is the fall of 2026. The Henry County Board of Commissioners awarded contracts for the baseball field upgrades, tennis court / pickleball courts renovations and concrete path improvements on March 17. The Board previously awarded a contract for the new concession stand / restroom building in July 2025. District I Commissioner Johnny Wilson expressed his enthusiasm for the renovations. “Thank you to the Parks and Recreation staff for putting all of this together. I am excited, the [youth] association and Locust Grove residents are excited. Residents have been asking for a pickleball court in Locust Grove for quite some time. I am looking forward to the completion of this project.” The renovations to the baseball area will cost $1.6 million, funded by the county’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VI program and impact fees from the city of Locust Grove. ------------------------------ As of March 31, 2026, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for award has not yet been established. Henry County is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide improvements to Warren Holder Park located at 301 Club Drive, Locust Grove, GA 30248. This scope of work outlines planned improvements at Warren Holder Park designed to enhance player safety, increase ADA accessibility, and improve overall usability of the facility. The project includes construction of new dugout slabs with adjusted positioning, concrete flatwork at eight ballfields, and installation of 36-inch-high backstop walls at select fields. Additional improvements include widening and upgrading pedestrian areas surrounding the central concession stand and adjoining walkways to meet ADA standards. The work will follow best practices for recreational site upgrades while aligning with existing site conditions and infrastructure. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and services required to fulfill the terms and conditions of this RFP.
