Reference Number 0000421884 2026 Town Center Fire Pit and Stone Seating Area Proposals are solicited on a lump sum basis, for the following work (approx. quantities): 5' Stone Gas Fire Pit Kit 1 LS Stone Seating Wall with Bench Seating 1 LS Stamped and Colored Concrete 1,300 SFT A pre-bid site visit is strongly encouraged but not required. All bid proposals must be accompanied by a bid bond, bank cashier's check, bank draft, or certified check for not less than five percent (5%) of the bid price, made payable to the City of Mt. Pleasant. The City of Mt. Pleasant reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any irregularities in the bids, and to select the bid considered most advantageous to the City. The City of Mt. Pleasant received grant awards of $14,388 from the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation and $21,863 from the Convention and Visitor's Bureau for the fire pit project. The remainder of the funding will be provided by the City of Mt. Pleasant. The final project amount will be submitted to the City Commission for approval prior to award of the contract. Bids on the project shall include all aspects of design, permitting and construction for the 2026 Town Center Fire Pit and Stone Seating Area Project, including but not limited to the following (Refer to attached concept drawing for approximate dimensions and locations): o Stone Gas Fire Pit - Round o 5' in diameter stone gas fire pit o Emergency gas shutoff o Dial timer control for public use o Wi-fi/app controls for city staff use o UL listed o Provide a removable, decorative metal grate or screen cover over fire pit for safety. Cover shall have pad lock hasps on each side for locking the cover down to the top of fire pit (or alternate method of locking cover) o Lockable/secure box for controls o Curved Stone Retaining Wall Seating Bench o Stone wall seating area with stone seating bench (with seat back and bench seat) o Provide partial wall height berming (approximately half wall height) installation behind wall to give a semi-recessed appearance. o LED lights in base of bench area. Other options for lighting will be considered by city staff. Lighting must be down shielded per city ordinance. There are existing pedestrian lights and streetlights at the site. o Stamped and colored concrete area around fire pit with flagstone stamp pattern o 5' wide ADA accessible concrete sidewalk connections from fire pit to existing Town Center sidewalk. o Stamped and colored concrete area to be sized to accommodate moveable Adirondack chairs on opposite side from the permanent seating wall. City to provide chairs. o Provide drains through bench wall (if needed) o Orient permanent seating area to face center circle where Christmas tree is placed. o Landscaping o Provide 2-3 new trees around seating wall, 2.5" min. Species to be approved by city staff. o Protect all existing trees. o Provide fill and berm for exterior of seating wall. o Provide swales, grading and/or other drainage elements as necessary to provide positive drainage on and around fire pit and seating area to prevent ponding of water and to prevent other blockage of drainage from the existing Town Center. o Berm and graded areas shall provide mowable slopes, 3:1 Max. o Restoration including placing topsoil and hydroseeding. o Soil erosion control elements as required, such as catch basin filter bags. o Other Project Scope Items o Rustic/natural stone look design elements o Natural stone colors that coordinate with the Town Center restroom building colors, preferably in red tones. Provide color and material samples for approval by city staff. o Relocate existing irrigation in location of proposed fire pit and seating area. o Obtain electrical permit and other permits as required. o Coordinate gas and electrical service installation with utility companies. City to pay any required fees for service installation. o Protection ex. site sidewalks. o Provide shop drawings and material samples for review and approval to city staff before construction.
