Renovation of a mixed-use development in Durham, North Carolina. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.
The scope of work includes providing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, supervision, coordination, and services necessary to replace three (3) firetube boilers at the Durham VA Medical Center Campus. Work involves removal, disposal, and replacement of existing underground fuel-oil storage tanks and boilers, installation of two temporary boilers during the replacement of three permanent 600 HP boilers, and ensuring that if one temporary boiler fails, a trailer-mounted temporary boiler is delivered within 48 hours to maintain steam requirements until the failed boiler in Building 24 is restored. Additional tasks include installing a new sprinkler system in Buildings 7 (boiler plant) and 9 (chiller plant). Construction will occur during VA first shift (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday), with utility work in East and West parking lots performed during second shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM). Parking areas must be phased to return spaces to normal use at the end of each shift. Any work requiring utility outages must occur during second shift or weekends, with shutdowns coordinated with the VA COR at least four weeks in advance. Location: Durham VA Medical Center Campus, 508 Fulton Street, Durham, NC 27705. The anticipated Magnitude of Construction is between $10,000,000.00 and $20,000,000.00.
