Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in North Mankato, Minnesota. Working plans call for the construction of a 70,000-square-foot municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.

New building will be built on a 22-acre site at the southeast corner of Timm and Rockford roads and is expected to replace the current public works building. The new facility as designed would expand capacity from the current 12,400 square feet to as much as 70,000 square feet. The project is divided into 3 parts. The facility will include garage storage, office and workshop space and a dedicated salt storage building. Optional components may feature a fire department training area, police impound garage and firing range, cold storage, topsoil shelter, fuel island and a brush and yard waste drop-off site. The city will manage several elements separately from the agreement, including construction of an access road and intersection along Timm Road. The city is also responsible for various testing, inspections, surveys and environmental assessments required prior to construction. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of January 30, 2026, project is funded for 2026. The council approved a pre-construction services agreement with a construction firm as well as and architect/civil engineer. Design work was to be completed by November 2025, with construction beginning in March 2026 and a projected completion date of Sept. 1, 2027. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
