Renovation of a water / sewer project in Telluride, Colorado. Working plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
As of April 29, 2026, no bids were received. No definite date for the rebid. This project includes the removal of existing gaseous chlorine and batch day tank chlorination systems and the installation of a new calcium hypochlorite tablet feeder system at the Mill Creek Water Treatment Plant (MCWTP), located in a high-alpine environment serving the Town of Telluride. MCWTP is a 1-mgd drinking water treatment facility utilizing conventional pretreatment followed by membrane filtration. The facility operates under two CDPHE-approved disinfection segments. Segment 1 - Pretreatment Segment 2 - Clearwell The existing chlorination systems rely on gaseous chlorine and batch chemical preparation within an enclosed chlorine room. The Town intends to convert to an AccuTab-style (Westlake Water Systems) tablet feeder system to improve operator safety, system reliability, chemical handling, and winter accessibility. This project is being implemented in accordance with CDPHE, WQ-DW-Policy-DW005- 2024 Design Criteria Policy for Potable Water Systems and has been approved for construction based on a design submittal of drawings and a Basis of Design Report (BODR). The Contractor will coordinate all down-time with the Town. Start-up of the chlorine system bust be completed by Monday, May 25th, 2026 (Memorial Day). The Town has engaged a design consultant for the preparation of the design, construction services, and preparation of the asbuilts. The Town's electrical and controls consultant was engaged in the design and will be executing the integration of the chlorine system into the existing SCADA. The Town has design consultant (KMS) and electrical controls consultant (SKM) that will require coordination.
