The City of Mason City, Iowa, seeks bids from licensed and qualified contractors for the demolition of one or more structures located on private property at 415 N Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, Iowa. The scope includes demolition and site clearance; backfill, grading, and seeding; securing excavation areas with fencing; treating the site as containing asbestos-containing materials with specific asbestos handling and disposal requirements; providing water on-site with a tanker truck for dust control; OSHA-compliant air monitoring; submission of demolition notification and permits; landfill manifest and waste receipt provisions. Engineering requirements include disconnecting water and sanitary sewer lines at the mains, removing the curb stop valve box and replacing sidewalk panels, with all service line work to be performed by a Mason City Licensed Excavator and obtaining necessary disconnect permits. Building department requirements include removing the foundation to at least 3 feet below grade, breaking foundation walls to specified sizes, removing basement floors and all underground utilities, with a Building Inspections Division inspection prior to backfilling. Flatwork connection to the alleyway must be discussed with the contractor and Building Official.
