Renovation of a detention facility in Independence, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.
The project is generally described as the replacement of eight water heaters at the facility . Bidders are required to include a detailed written proposal in the bid submittal. Proposal must list the brand name and model number of equipment. b. If bidding equal or substitute materials or equipment, bidder must meet the General Conditions section 26. Time For Completion: The Work shall commence 30 calendar days after receipt of order and shall be Substantially Completed within 90 calendar days. The Work shall be finally completed within 30 days after the date of Substantial Completion of the Work. If a delay in receipt of equipment prevents this deadline, documentation from the manufacturer must be provided. e. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to attend the pre-bid conference to observe existing conditions and evaluate adjustments needed. f. Agency requires at least one water heater in the Building to be operational within 72-hours once Contractor takes the heaters out of service, Contractor shall provide a backup system to ensure hot water is available to the building if this 72-hour requirement cannot be met. g. Work shall include compete furnish and install. The work shall consist of providing all materials, equipment, tools, and incidentals necessary to furnish, deliver, and install equipment. h. Work shall include removal and disposal of old equipment. i. Water heaters will utilize LP gas. Selected water heater shall be compatible for use with LP gas. Selected model must utilize LP gas or include factory installed optional equipment converting to LP gas operation. j. Provide and install a total of Eight (8) commercial gas water heaters per specifications. This section includes gas-fired storage water heaters for potable water. 1.3 REFERENCES A. UL 795 "Commercial - Industrial Gas Heating Equipment" B. ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code, section IV, Part HLW C. ANSI Z21.10.3/CSA 4.3 "Gas Water Heaters" D. ASHRAE/IES 90.1 E. ASME CSD-1 "Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers" F. NFPA 70- National Electric Code G. NFPA 54- National Fuel Gas Code H. NSF/ANSI Standard 61- Drinking Water System Components I. ASTM G123 - 00(2005) "Standard Test Method for Evaluating Stress-Corrosion Cracking of Stainless Alloys with Different Nickel Content in Boiling Acidified Sodium Chloride Solution." 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: Include rated capacities; shipping, installed, and operating weights; furnished specialties and accessories for each model indicated. B. Shop Drawings: Detail equipment assemblies and indicate dimensions, required clearances, components, and size of each field connection C. Wiring Diagrams: Detail for wiring power signal, differentiate between manufactureinstalled and field-installed wiring D. Field Test Reports: Indicate and interpret test reports for compliance with performance requirements. A copy will be furnished to the owner. E. Maintenance Data: Include in the maintenance manuals specified in Division 1. Include maintenance guide and wiring diagrams 1.5 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS A. Conform to applicable code for internal wiring of factory wired equipment B. Units: ETL, UL or CSA Certified as a Complete Gas Fired Water Heater Assemblies. C. Gas Train shall comply with UL Standard 795 D. Conform to ASME Section IV. Part HLW for Water Heater construction. 1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Listing: The water heater will be listed ETL listed to UL 795 "Commercial - Industrial Gas Heating Equipment." B. ASME Compliance: Water heater shall bear the ASME HLW stamp and be National Board listed C. The water heater shall operate at no less than 83% thermal efficiency when tested to the ANSI Z21.10.3 efficiency standard. Heater shall comply with current ASHRAE 90.1 requirements for thermal efficiency and standby heat loss A Bid Bond is required. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
