The St. Johns River Water Management District (the District) is seeking submittals from qualified Contractor to install and place Argentine Bahia sod on regraded slope and excavation area. All work must be completed by July 31, 2026. Recent inspections identified multiple areas of seepage along the levee. Water was observed daylighting relatively high on the landside slope, creating a spongy ground condition which makes it difficult to mow the slopes. Seepage Area 1 is located just east of Moss Bluff Lock and Dam; Seepage Area 2 is located approximately 3,500 feet south of Moss Bluff; and Seepage Area 3 is located approximately 2 miles south of Moss Bluff. Collectively, these three areas extend approximately 5,000 feet in length and contain several isolated seepage points. . To address these issues, the District is proposing to construct a sand buttress on the landside slope of the levee to facilitate drainage and provide a more stable slope. The fill for the sand buttress will be excavated from L-212, a District owned project levee.
