Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Chesapeake City, Maryland. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
This contract is for the replacement of bridge bearings on the Senator Roth Bridge, a six-lane high-level highway bridge carrying Route 1 over the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal with approximately 39 million crossings per year. Work includes temporary jacking of the bridge, removal of existing bearings, replacement of eight pot bearings and elastomeric bearings, placement of the bridge back onto the new bearings, and completion of associated spall and crack repairs. The contractor shall provide all temporary traffic control in accordance with a contractor-prepared and MDDOT-approved temporary traffic control plan and shall be responsible for all traffic control measures required for the work. The work requires complete closure of the bridge in one direction for each bearing replacement, with a total of four bearing replacements under this contract, consisting of two northbound and two southbound closures. Full directional bridge closures will be permitted beginning Friday night and extending through Sunday for each replacement. All work must be performed within a 180-calendar-day period of performance from Notice to Proceed, with certain activities restricted during designated periods as specified in the solicitation.
