Project Overview Public and Indigenous engagement services are required to support the planning and design of a new park in the River Crossing area of Edmonton. The City of Edmonton is located within both Treaty No.6 Territory and Districts 9 (Fort Edmonton) and 10 (Edmonton Whitemud) as established by the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta, and has been a gathering place of Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial. The Edmonton metropolitan region is also home to over 75,000 Indigenous People, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit, who have and continue to make significant contributions to the City’s social, economic, and cultural prosperity. The future park is located in the Rossdale neighbourhood, within the North Saskatchewan River Valley bylaw area. It is bordered by 96th Ave on the north, 105th Street on the west and Rossdale Road on the south and east. 104th Street currently runs through the area, but will be closed in the future and the road ROW and space on either side will be consolidated into the park parcel. The park is within the larger River Crossing area, north of an Indigenous Traditional Gathering Place and west of Remax field.
