**As of March 13, 2026, the project was awarded to Miami Business Telephone Corp, with an awarded amount of $25,463.05.** POSTING OF INTENDED DECISION/AWARD - 3/2/2026 4:00 PM The State of Florida Department of Transportation (Hereinafter Referred to as the "Department") is Soliciting Written Bids From Qualified Bidders to Establish a Contract to Provide Data Network Structured Cabling System for Florida Department of Transportation - District 4 & District 6 Materials & Research Office. It is Anticipated That the Term of the Contract Will Begin on or About March 01, 2026, and Be Effective for Three (3) Months Thereafter. FDOT - Data Network Structured Cabling System The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) (hereinafter referred to as "Department") seeks to obtain a qualified Vendor to provide a compliant Districtwide Data Network Structured Cabling System to replace existing cabling in FDOT offices with a combination of Wireless access points, wall jacks, and jacks in cubes (the "Project"). FDOT currently has a mixture of cabling in the Agency Buildings which needs to be removed and replaced with a uniform Category 6 (CAT 6) Plenum Cabling. The Scope of Work will include: The displaced cables must be removed from the site once the new cabling is installed. The current network must be kept up and running while the new system is installed. Removal of existing replaced cables currently residing in the ceiling at one (1) location: 1. District 4 and 6 Materials and Research Office 14200 W State Road 84, Davie FL 33325 II. STRUCTURED CABLING SYSTEM REQUIREMENT: CAT 6 - Plenum Fixed Cost Per Jack: Rates to include jacks, patch panels, locking wall boxes, and face plates terminated at both ends. All components are to be CAT 6 rated, AWG 23 Gauge. Cabling and all associated equipment must be CAT 6 Compliant. The Vendor will provide parts, materials, installation, testing, and certification proof. The cable, connectors, and connecting hardware listed shall meet or exceed the performance requirements. All ports must be white with white jacks. The cabling installation will be installed per (i) ISO/IEC 11801 or (ii) ANSI/TIA-568 Standard, EN 50173, including amendments to the foregoing Standards in effect as of the date of sale. The cabling system shall be a Plenum Category 6 system. If the existing pathway cannot be utilized during the cabling upgrade, the Vendor shall provide an approved pathway using a combination of J-hooks, cable trays, or other approved hangers (suspension), possibly including firestop sleeved openings. J-hooks shall be spaced no greater than 5' apart and not supported from ceiling grid hanger wire. Cables shall not rest on ceiling tile. Cables shall not touch any fire suppression piping for the sprinkler system. Pathways shall be run parallel and perpendicular to walls. Diagonal cable runs will not be accepted. A site walk-through will be mandatory prior to quoting this Project. During the site Each office location shall have two drops per location unless specified otherwise. Conference rooms and larger offices may have more, which will be noted on the plans provided to the bidder's representative prior to the walk-through and Project Site Visit. CATEGORY 6 CABLING SPECIFICATIONS: A. Installation of Enhanced Category 6 UTP cable shall be in accordance with TIA/EIA guidelines. The Vendor shall replace cable and termination hardware that does not comply with TIA/EIA at no additional charge. B. The maximum pulling tension shall not exceed 25 pounds/cable, and maximum lengths shall not exceed 275 feet. C. The cable's minimum bend radius shall not be less than 1 inch. D. The cable shall be installed without kinks or twists, and the application of cable ties shall not deform the cable bundle. In addition to cable supports, free-run cables shall be bundled and loosely tie-wrapped (24) inches in the center (minimum). Use plenum-rated tie wraps in air plenums. Once it has entered the IDF/MDF facility, all communications cabling shall be bundled and managed using Velcro strips. E. When terminating CAT6 twisted pair cable, make sure that the natural twist of each pair is as close as possible to the point of termination. ANSI/TIA 568-C.2 requires no more than 0.5in (13mm) of untwisted cable for CAT6, as it will affect cable performance at high bit rates. F. Separation from sources of Electromagnetic interference (EMI): Special care shall be taken in the open ceiling installation of any cabling to avoid any EMI-generating devices. Communications wiring should be avoided in spaces with electrical panels, transformers, or other high-voltage equipment. G. Fire Penetrations: Fire stop free-run cable through fire-rated walls in accordance with UL EIA/TIA standards. All firewall penetrations shall be sealed with a UL-listed fire-rated assembly. H. UTP Splices and Bridge Taps: Shall not be permitted. I. Harsh, Hazardous, or Corrosive environments: Cabling shall not be installed where vapors, fumes, corrosives, dusts, or other industrial byproducts are present without taking appropriate precautions to protect the cables. Protection shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and NFPA standards and specifications. J. Penetrations through walls shall be sleeved. Sleeves shall be sized such that fill ratios will not exceed 50% of the maximum. K. Cabling shall not be run exposed to the public. Surface-mounted raceway is not permitted. L. All Racks/Equipment used shall be appropriately grounded. M. The Vendor is responsible for moving all furniture as needed to facilitate this Project, however, the Department has agreed to assist. N. All Wireless Access Points (WAPS) will have two (2) cables, each using a biscuit, and the second cable will be at least 15 feet. All cables will have at least a 15-foot service loop. O. Number coding for the new CAT 6 cable upgrade will be as follows: Starting with the first patch panel and the numbers 101 - 124 Second patch panel will be 201 - 224 Third patch panel will be 301 - 324 and so on until complete Cameras will be labeled with a "CAM" label on the patch panel and a port number, just like any other drop. Wireless access points (WAPS) will be labeled with a port number just like any other drop, but in addition to the number, a label of "WAP" will be placed on the patch panel.
