The 2026 Asphalt Street Repair Project consists of milling of existing pavement (approximately 50,000 square yards) followed by hot mix asphalt paving (approximately 14,000 tons, 4-7 inch depth), curb and gutter removal and replacement (approximately 3,000 linear feet), ADA compliant sidewalk and ramps, and other associated improvements at several locations throughout Fort Dodge. All work and materials shall comply with the proposed plans, specifications, and proposed form of contract, which are available for examination at the City Clerk's office. Bids must be submitted on forms furnished by the City, enclosed in a separate sealed envelope, and plainly identified. Each bidder must provide bid security in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, bank money order, certified share draft, or bid bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. All signatures on the bid bond must be original ink signatures. Payment to the contractor will be made monthly at ninety-seven percent (97%) of the engineer's estimate of the value of acceptable work. Final payment will be made no less than thirty-one days after completion and acceptance by the City Council. Preference will be given to Iowa products, provisions, and labor as required by law. All work must be completed by October 16, 2026. Bidders must bid on all items and sections as set out in the proposal form. The City Council will award a single contract to the lowest responsible bidder for the entire project. Bidders are required to comply with all applicable federal and state regulations and requirements.
