The work includes providing all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary to remodel the kitchen at Vandalia Fire Station #2. This includes demolition of existing cabinetry and countertops, installation of new commercial-grade or high-quality residential cabinetry and countertops, associated plumbing and electrical modifications, and installation of new kitchen appliances. Plumbing work must be performed by a licensed plumber and includes reconnecting or modifying kitchen sink plumbing, providing a new dishwasher hookup, installing a gas line and stove, and relocating water lines for the refrigerator. Electrical work must also be performed by a licensed plumber and requires relocating and modifying electrical outlets and connections as needed. Contractors must coordinate to minimize disruption, protect adjacent areas during demolition, perform daily cleanup, and comply with local, state, and federal codes. Bidders must include a detailed scope narrative, itemized cost proposal, relevant experience, references, schedule, proof of insurance and licenses, warranty information, and a bid bond if the proposal exceeds $10,000. Contractors should also list a line item cost for demolition in their proposal, which may be deducted if the city completes the demo work themselves. Proposals must be sealed, signed with the full name and address of the company, and appropriately labeled. The city may give preference to local bidders under specified conditions.
