Site work for a water / sewer project in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Vegetation and Tree Removal o Remove all existing trees, including root balls, from the slope face within the defined limits of disturbance. o Removal shall be performed in a controlled manner to minimize additional slope disturbance. o Shear debris and cut into pieces no larger than 6 feet in length. Move all vegetation, roots, and organic debris to designated stockpile location as shown on the attached drawing. Owner may identify an alternate location. o Provide alternative pricing for removal of debris off-site. Repair of Surface Holes and Burrows o Voids left from root ball removal shall be backfilled and compacted using suitable soil material. o Identify and repair all surface depressions, suspected animal burrows, and other voids on the slope. o Fill holes with compacted cohesive soil material consistent with existing material used to construct the berm. o Verify repairs are flush and stable prior to grading. Regrading and Slope Reestablishment o Regrade the slope to restore the design slope geometry (as per original design drawings or geotechnical recommendations shown in site layout document). o Backfill shall be placed in maximum 8-inch loose lifts and compacted to a minimum of 95 percent of maximum dry density as determined by ASTM D698 (Standard Proctor), unless otherwise noted. o Ensure the finished slope surface is uniform, free of ruts, and properly compacted. o Verify slope inclination and surface drainage to prevent ponding and promote sheet flow toward designated drainage areas. Erosion Protection and Surface Stabilization o Install erosion control measures immediately after grading to prevent soil loss. o Option A (Standard Stabilization): o Apply topsoil as needed. o Seed the slope with a native, dense, fibrous-rooted grass mix recommended for slope stabilization. o Apply erosion control blanket or hydro-mulch to promote vegetation establishment. o Option B (Enhanced Stabilization - if approved): o Install the Propex Armormax(R) Engineered Armoring System or equivalent product in accordance with manufacturer specifications. o Ensure full surface contact and proper anchoring of the system. o Integrate with vegetation establishment efforts (seeded or hydroseeded through system as specified). Materials o Suitable backfill material: inorganic soil free of debris, organic matter, frozen material, or rock larger than 3-inches in diameter. o Native grass seed mix: approved by City or environmental consultant. o Erosion control products: biodegradable matting, hydro-mulch, or approved engineered armoring system (e.g., Propex Armormax(R)). Quality Control o Perform density testing for compacted soil material. o Confirm slope geometry and compaction meet design and geotechnical specifications. o Verify erosion control and vegetation establishment in accordance with manufacturer and environmental guidelines. Safety and Environmental Compliance o Follow all applicable OSHA safety regulations for slope work and tree removal. o Protect adjacent creek and natural resources from sediment and debris via silt fence, wattles, or other best management practices (BMPs). o Properly dispose of all waste materials. Deliverables o Pre-construction and post-construction photographs. o Inspection and monitoring reports. o Documentation of materials used (seed mix, erosion control products, etc.). o As-built drawings showing final slope geometry (if required).
