**As of April 23rd, 2026, the project was awarded to Scapepros Landscaping, with an awarded amount of $305,622.66** Field repair and restoration of the fields at Adams and Andersen Elementary Schools. Includes hollow tine aeration to a depth of 4-5 inches, verti-cutting and dethatching the entire field area, and scalping the turf to a maximum height of 1/2 inch. This project involves the repair and restoration of the turf fields at Adams Elementary School, 2850 Clubhouse Road, Costa Mesa, CA 92626 & Andersen Elementary School, 1900 Port Seabourne Way, Newport Beach CA 92660. Each Bid shall be accompanied by cash, a certified or cashier's check, or Bid Bond secured from a surety company satisfactory to the District, the amount of which shall not be less than ten percent (10%) of the submitted Total Bid Price, made payable to the Newport-Mesa Unified School District as bid security. The bid security shall be provided as a guarantee that within five (5) working days after the District provides the successful bidder the Notice of Award, the successful Bidder will enter into a contract and provide the necessary bonds and certificates of insurance. The bid security will be declared forfeited if the successful Bidder fails to comply within said time. No interest will be paid on funds deposited with District. Start/Delivery Date 06/08/2026 Project Duration 60 calendar day Liquidated Damages $1,500.00 per calendar day Estimated Bid Value 21,600.00 Material Payment Bond each in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Price. Each bond shall be in the forms set forth herein, shall be secured from a surety company that meets all State of California bonding requirements, as defined in California Code of Civil Procedure Section 995.120, and that is a California admitted surety insurer. The scope of work includes two rounds of weed abatement, scalping the turf to a maximum height of 1/2 inch, verti-cutting and dethatching the entire turf field areas & providing hollow tine aeration to a depth of 4-5 inches. All thatch generated from mowing and dethatching will be collected, vacuumed, and disposed of offsite at an approved location. Additionally, top dressing sand will be imported and applied at a rate of 1/2 inch per 1,000 square feet using a broadcast spreader. The final step involves hydroseeding with Sportsfield Elite blend from Stover Seed at a rate of 12 pounds per 1,000 square feet to promote healthy turf regeneration, maintaining the newly hydroseeded turf for a 90-day establishment period and applying fertilizer as necessary to provide a healthy 100% coverage and establishment of the renovated turf at the end of the 90 day establishment period and acceptance by NMUSD. Scope of Work: o Install a temporary fence around job site as necessary to secure the work area. o Flag all existing irrigation equipment prior to starting work (Irrigation heads, valve boxes, etc. in project area) Contractor shall take 2 soil samples (on opposite ends of existing fields) from each project site and obtain an agricultural soils report for each site. Soils report shall be referenced for recommendations related to soil preparation, amendments & fertilizer needs. o Perform 2 rounds of Weed Abatement (14 days) o Scalp mow existing turf fieldsto a max height of 1/2 " o Verti-cut/dethatch entire sq. ft. turf field area o Contractors shall locate and fence off any surface roots from trees within the turf areas and not Verti-cut or cause damage to the tree roots. o Approximate area of Adams ES @ 182,766 SF and Andersen ES @ 124,378 SF (Contractor to verify). o Vacuum and collect all thatch created from the mowing & dethatching process o Dispose of all materials offsite at an approved location o Provide Hollow Tine Aeration to 4-5" depth o Rake & dispose of all debris from Hollow Tine Aeration materials offsite at an approved location Contractor shall perform spot grading as required to ensure positive surface drainage towards existing drainage structures. Finish grades must prevent the formation of ruts within swales and eliminate areas of standing water. The finished grade of all play fields shall be subject to review and approval by the school district prior to installation of turf or hydroseed. If catch basins are not existing, finish grades must sheet flow to prevent ponding and be directed towards existing drainage outfalls o Import top dressing sand (sand should include 20% organic amendments) at the rate of 1/2 " per 1,000 sq. ft. (to be spread by broadcast spreader) Top dressing sand shall be used to level out any existing bumpy/uneven surfaces. - Top dressing sand shall be smoothed and lightly compacted with a roller to firm up the surface receiving Sod/Hydroseed. -At Adams Elementary School, hydroseed with Sportsfield Elite blend from Stover Seed @12 lbs. 1,000 sq. ft. For hydroseed specifications, contact Stover Seed Representative Don Lewis 213 247 3266. - At Andersen Elementary School, lay down Hybrid Bermuda Sod over-seeded with perennial rye grass. Submit product for review and acceptance by architect prior to procurement and installation o Hydroseed with Sportsfield Elite blend from Stover Seed @12 lbs. 1,000 sq. ft. Stover Seed Representative Don Lewis 213 247 3266. o Provide a 90-day maintenance & establishment period to provide 100% establishment of hydro-seeded turf. Contractor shall adjust watering schedules as necessary to provide the necessary irrigation water to germinate the newly hydroseeded turf seed. o Contractor shall verify & confirm that the existing irrigation system is fully operational and correctly apply irrigation water to receive 100% irrigation coverage & seed germination. Should modifications or improvements be necessary to receive 100% irrigation coverage, contractors shall provide at no cost to NMUSD. o Contractor is responsible for repairing or replacing damage done to any existing irrigation, hardscape, fencing or amenities at no expense to NMUSD. o Mow & fertilize newly planted turf to provide a thick established turf field prior to turning over to NMUSD. o Contractor to provide NMUSD with recommendations for watering schedule for additional 30 days following 90-day maintenance & establishment period.
