Elmhurst 2026 Watermain Improvements The proposed project includes replacing existing water main distribution piping that serves eight residential streets throughout the City. The total lengths of the proposed ductile iron water mains by pipe size are as follows: 58 feet of 6-inch, 8,763 feet of 8-inch, and 650 LF of 10-inch. The project scope also includes the replacement of approximately 224 existing water services, of which 206 are copper and 18 are lead. The proposed water services will consist of 1-1 2 copper service piping installed from the new distribution main to the right-of-way line. For lead service replacements, the new piping will extend to the water meter inside the residence. The work shall include the replacement of approximately 9,500 linear feet of existing watermain with new ductile iron watermain, to include approximately 8,765 L.F. of 8-inch DIP, 125 L.F. of 8-inch PVC, and 650 L.F. of 10-inch DIP, and along Cayuga Avenue, Arlington Avenue, May Street, Crockett Ave, Virginia Street, Junior Terrace, Sunrise Road, and Mary Court in the City of Elmhurst. The work shall also include fittings, services, private services, valves in vaults; excavation and backfill; trench backfilling; pavement and curb replacement; parkway restoration; traffic control; testing and disinfecting; hydrants with valves; and all other related work.
