Renovation of an educational facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

This project consists of miscellaneous building envelope repairs at three buildings on the campus of UNC Charlotte. Repairs at Kennedy include brick and CMU repointing, concrete repairs, sealant replacement, and installation of metal caps. Repairs at Friday include sealant replacement and brick repairs, with alternates for loading dock and retaining wall repairs. Repairs at Storrs include sealant replacement, brick repairs, and EIFS replacement. The project includes all work as shown, indicated, or reasonably implied on the drawings and/or specifications for a complete, first-class job. Bids will be received for single prime and all proposals shall be lump sum. All bids dropped off early or not brought directly to the bid opening room shall be placed in the designated dropbox. Bids received after the announced time and date for submittal will be rejected. Bidders are responsible for ensuring their bid is received before the deadline. Bids submitted by telephone, telegraph, email, text message, or facsimile will not be accepted. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held. Bidders must have the proper license as required by state law. Each proposal must be accompanied by a deposit or bid bond equal to not less than five percent of the proposal. A performance bond and a payment bond for one hundred percent of the contract price are required. Payment will be made based on ninety-five percent of monthly estimates with final payment upon completion and acceptance of work. No bid may be withdrawn for 30 days after scheduled closing time. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities. The bidder must include the form Identification of Minority Business Participation and either Affidavit A or B with the proposal. Failure to complete these forms is grounds for rejection. All bids being dropped off early, by courier, or otherwise not brought directly to the bid opening room shall be placed in the brown bid/proposal dropbox located in the 1st floor lobby of Facilities Management Building #55. Plan Deposit: Not required for electronic documents Work consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and incidentals necessary to install new joint backing and urethane sealant at hardscape cant joints. 2. The scope of work includes the following estimated quantity of joint sealing: a. Friday: 100 l.ft. b. Storrs: 900 l.ft. This Section includes the provisions of all labor, materials, supervision, and incidentals required to prepare deteriorated or damaged concrete surfaces and install patching materials to restore original surface condition and integrity. Specifically, this specification applies to vertical concrete repairs and for the Friday loading dock repairs (Add Alternate #2). A. Section includes all labor, materials, services, equipment, and hardware required in conjunction with or related to the forming, delivery, and placement of all concrete work. B. Contractor shall become fully acquainted with the existing job site conditions and discuss the accessibility of the work areas with the Owner. C. Contractor shall ensure that there is adequate ventilation along protective and filtering barriers in areas where repair work is being performed and that no work results in nauseating, annoying or toxic fumes, odors and construction dust from entering occupied areas, HVAC and related mechanical/ electrical equipment. Provide barricades around the work area with appropriate signage to keep non-construction people from entering work area. D. Contractor shall provide all traffic cones or barriers to direct traffic during the repair of the facility. This work shall be done in consultation with the Owner.
