This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Clarks Hill, South Carolina. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.

Trail repair services include clearing and re-establishing 19.61 miles of damaged trail, removing trees, brush, and obstacles within the trail corridor to a width of not less than 60 inches and a height of 10 feet, and grubbing and removing trees and brush within the tread to two inches below bare soil without leaving hazardous edges. All debris must be pulled at least ten feet away from the trail. Work includes repairing or re-establishing the trail tread to bare mineral soil with a finished width of 18 to 24 inches, employing full bench construction on side slopes greater than fifteen percent, maintaining back slopes at no more than sixty percent, outsloping the tread by three to five percent, ensuring the tread is free of stubs, and blending all waste materials into the natural environment without creating debris piles or drainage impediments. Trail remarking requires repainting yellow hatches on trees every seventy-five to one hundred feet, placing yellow Carsonite posts every half mile with brown distance stickers, using white Carsonite posts every half mile on the Lake Springs Loop, and installing marked Carsonite posts at trailheads and crossings to indicate trail direction and permitted use. Minor creek crossings must be cleared of debris and repaired using concrete brick or similar material to create a satisfactory walking and bicycle-riding surface. Foot bridge work includes repairing or replacing eleven footbridges using treated lumber, installing spaced boards for drainage, applying cloth material covered with chicken wire on walking surfaces, and ensuring bridges are properly anchored. Where required, bridge abutments must be cleared of debris, stumps, and roots in an eight-foot by ten-foot area, graded level, and seeded to reduce erosion. All non-degradable materials must be removed from the trail. The contractor is responsible for compliance with environmental laws and correction of violations, repairing damage caused by operations, coordinating with the COR to minimize impact on park visitors, performing all work in compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards, and providing all labor, equipment, materials, and services needed for tread repair, bench cuts, foot bridge work, and water crossing repairs. All equipment must comply with federal, state, and local regulations, and the contractor must hold all required licenses. Location: J. Strom Thurmond Dam and Lake, 510 Clarks Hill Highway, Clarks Hill, SC 29821
