Renovation of a transportation facility in Buffalo, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
The work includes, but is not limited to: removal of existing PVC roof assemblies down to the roof decks for eight roof surfaces, including removal of edge metals, penetration flashings, and curb flashings. New work involves installation of an insulated KEE PVC roof system, roof access ladders, edge metals, expansion joint assemblies, and flashings for a complete roof installation. The roof scuttle is to be raised and reset to accommodate additional insulation thicknesses, and the existing stair to the roof scuttle is to be replaced with a ships ladder. A ballasted guardrail system is included in limited locations. Tracks for existing overhead doors between maintenance bays and the bus garage are to be temporarily detached and supported during installation of carbon fiber reinforcement on designated structural concrete Tees, then resuspended. Acoustic baffles surrounding the concrete Tees receiving carbon fiber reinforcing will be removed and replaced. Gas lines and scuttle blocking are to be painted, and intumescent paint applied to a new steel angle. Four existing concrete roof Tees will be reinforced with carbon fiber reinforced polymer plates and fabric end wraps, with preparation of concrete surfaces after detaching and temporarily supporting attached mechanicals and piping. A new steel angle is to be installed below a small roof edge to reinforce the roof deck to wall connection, and new vertical steel C-channels installed between existing steel structure members to provide bracing for a new roof ladder. MEP work includes reflashing of five air handler unit curbs, salvaging, cleaning, and servicing existing fans for reinstallation, replacement of several fans and A/C units, inspection and servicing of controls, installation of a new lightning protection system, plumbing for new roof drain components and vent extensions, extension and reconnection of utilities for rooftop mechanical units, and temporary disconnection/reconnection and shoring of existing mechanicals and piping to facilitate CFRP installation. An existing large, ballasted communications antenna is to be temporarily disconnected to replace the roof system below its base, with required coordination with Transwave Communication Systems. The contract includes add-alternates for installation of mechanical rooftop units. Instructions to bidders include: registration required to become a Document Holder and obtain contract documents, available at no cost from the specified contact or via the indicated website. Bid security not less than ten percent of the total bid price is required for bids exceeding $50,000, submitted electronically or in a sealed envelope. Contractors must perform no less than 50% of the work with their own forces. The project duration is 371 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed, including winter shutdown. Liquidated damages apply for failure to complete within the specified time. MWBE and SDVOB participation goals are set as follows: SDVOB goal 6%, MBE goal 17%, WBE goal 13%.
