The project involves professional engineering services for the design of North Ave Traffic Signal Improvements. The selected firm will collaborate with City staff and stakeholders to deliver high-quality design and construction support services. The scope includes evaluating and correcting any elements of existing traffic signals from the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) to Eastchester Rd for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG), and integration of state-of-the-art pedestrian safety measures per the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and NYSDOT standards. This includes evaluation of pedestrian signal head locations, pedestrian buttons, and corner ramps. North of Eastchester Rd, the project requires the design and construction of new mast arm traffic signals, ADA and PROWAG compliant pedestrian signals and ramps, and the connection of all traffic signals to the CNR Central System, with several intersections retaining existing equipment that remains functional. The firm must follow all procedures of the NYSDOT Local Project Manual and include NYSDOT standard or special specifications where possible. Communication options, including fiber optic and wireless equipment, must be evaluated to efficiently connect signals to the central system at City Hall. Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked “North Ave Traffic Signal Improvements / Spec # 5857.” Interested parties must also monitor the City’s website for updates and addendums.
