Renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Huntsville, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and educational facility.
The project includes selective demolition and renovations to Rolling Hills Elementary School plus the addition of a new gymnasium. The complete project scope is detailed in the Bid and Construction Documents. Bidders must submit a cashier's check or bid bond payable to Huntsville City Board of Education in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, but no more than $10,000. Performance and statutory Labor and Material Payment Bonds, as well as insurance in compliance with requirements, will be required at the signing of the contract. Drawings and Specifications will be available to General Contractors and may be examined at the Office of the Architect and Huntsville City Board of Education. Bidders may obtain documents for a non-refundable cost equal to the cost of printing or digital download. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All bidders exceeding the threshold established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, and must display their current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope and on the Proposal Form. No bid may be withdrawn for ninety (90) days after the scheduled closing. Attendance at a pre-bid conference is not required for all General Contractor Bidders. The project is bid without sales taxes, but contractors must account for sales tax on the bid proposal form. Work must commence on the earlier of either the date of the owner's written "Notice to Proceed" or the contractor's receipt of the fully executed contract and must be substantially complete within 330 consecutive calendar days. The contractor is required to provide Superintendent(s) for supervision. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if deemed in the Owner's best interest.
