The project consists of the removal of the existing traffic signal and its associated appurtenances at the intersection of Rahway Avenue (C.R. 514) and Omar Avenue, installation of revised signal equipment, and the addition of a fourth leg across from Omar Avenue. It also includes the full depth reconstruction and widening of Paddock Street. The work includes full depth excavation, roadway widening, installation of drainage pipes, structures, and stormwater management facilities, beam guide rail, signal equipment installation, pavement markings and signing, installation of ADA-compliant ramps, sidewalk, and other incidentals as necessary to complete the work shown on the plans and as specified in the special provisions. Bidders must be prequalified with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) in Work Classification type Heavy Highway, valid at the time of bid opening. Bids must be submitted on the Proposal Form provided, accompanied by a corporate surety, a certified check or bid bond for not less than ten percent of the bid amount (not to exceed $20,000.00), and a certificate of consent of surety from a bonding company licensed in New Jersey and named in the current list of "Surety Companies Acceptable on Federal Bonds." The successful bidder will be required to comply with the New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act, State and Federal worker and jobsite safety requirements, and provide a surety company bond in the full contract amount. All labor must be covered by approved health, hospital insurance, pension plan, and an apprenticeship training program. A statement of Employee Benefits must be included with the bid. The Township reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids in its interest.
