Renovation of a theater / auditorium in Raleigh, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a theater / auditorium.
Project Description: This project proposes the demolition of 1,398 SF of an existing two-story, 12,629 SF arts center building and the renovation of the remaining building. In addition, the project proposes a new one-story 9,399 SF addition. The arts center building will include vocational arts classrooms to support painting, ceramics, fibers, and youth arts programming, in addition to a multipurpose room and support spaces. The existing structure is of load-bearing masonry and steel-framed construction. This addition will be steel-framed, Type VB construction, fully sprinklered with a non-separated business and assembly occupancy. The scope of work includes mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades as well as the installation of fire sprinkler and alarm systems. The project will disturb approximately 1.25-acres of the 23.44-acre overall site area. On-site construction will consist of grading, storm drainage, utilities, site improvements, paving, landscaping, and fencing. The building portion includes partial demolition and renovation of the existing two-story arts center, along with a new one-story addition. The expanded facility will feature vocational arts classrooms, a multipurpose room, and support spaces. The scope also includes interior utility improvements, as well as full MEP system upgrades. Packages may be added and/or deleted at discretion of Construction Manager. Pre-qualification requirements: Only those bidders that have been prequalified in advance for this project shall be eligible to bid. Any bid submitted by a bidder that was not prequalified shall be rejected as being nonresponsive. Interested contractors are to obtain the prequalification forms or request more information through contacting the designated representative. All bids shall satisfy requirements of NCGS 143-128.2. The City of Raleigh encourages participation by certified minority and women-owned businesses and maintains an affirmative policy of fostering business with such enterprises. There is an aspirational goal of 15% participation by certified minority and women-owned businesses for qualifying building projects. The CMAR and the owner reserve the right to reject any pre-qualifications.
