Description

Renovation of a military facility in Watervliet, New York. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a military facility.

Repairs to Building 136, the central steam-generation facility at Watervliet Arsenal, originally constructed in 1943 with an addition in 1957. Work restores the building envelope, corrects code and life-safety deficiencies, and modernizes support and administrative areas to extend the building's useful life by 40 years while maintaining ongoing boiler operations. The project is executed as a Design-Build effort funded through Operation and Maintenance, Army (OMA), limited to repairs, replacements, and reconfigurations of existing systems with no new construction or steam-generation. The facility must meet a minimum 40-year life in accordance with UFC 1-200-02, addressing energy efficiency, building envelope improvements, and integrated building systems performance.
