Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Midland, Michigan. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

Reference Number 0000412846 Furnish labor and materials for the removal and replacement of concrete sidewalk from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. An estimated 17,000 square feet of 4" and 6" concrete sidewalk in the City of Midland is to be replaced under this contract not to exceeded $150,000. Repairs may be as small as 4 to 10 lineal feet of sidewalk. Upon award of the contract, the DPW supervisor will meet with the Contractor to review the existing list of repair locations and determine a schedule to complete. The DPW supervisor will paint the sections of sidewalk to be replaced prior to the start of the work. Additional locations will be marked for repair upon satisfactory completion of the previous locations. The work at each location must be completed within ten (10) business days from the initial removal of the damaged sections of walk. Repair work will be scheduled by the DPW supervisor overseeing the contract and compensated at the unit price until the budget for the project is exhausted Root Removal: All tree roots intruding within 3" of the bottom of the proposed sidewalk shall be ground down by an approved method, removed, and the remaining area filled with compacted sand. The roots shall be removed completely below the bottom of the new sidewalk. The cost for the grinding and placing compacted sand shall be incidental to the unit price bid per square foot of 4" or 6" Concrete Sidewalk. Concrete Sawing: Any concrete saw cutting necessary to provide a neat joint to finish to or where removal does not fall on a construction joint shall be considered incidental to the unit price bid per square foot of "Remove Concrete Walk". Storage and Disposal of Materials: The Contractor shall not store or pile any materials on the out lawn or the street. Materials must be brought on site as needed. Disposal, including any applicable landfill use fees, of all removal items and excess excavation shall be the Contractor's responsibility. Concrete, excavated soil, tree roots and other items to be disposed shall be removed from the job site daily. Driveways: At locations where the sidewalk replacement crosses an existing driveway, the sidewalk shall be replaced with new walk being 6" in thickness. Contractor will ensure that driveway is not to be in use until the concrete has cured for 5-7 days after being placed. Utilities: It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to contact Miss Dig for the location of all utilities prior to the start of the work. Miss Dig tickets showing positive response should be emailed to jrubenacker@midland-mi.org before excavation is started in each area. Water Service Boxes: It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to regrade any water service box or other similar structures to match the top elevation of the new concrete sidewalk. Cost for regrading water service boxes or similar structures shall be incidental to the unit price bid per square foot for " 4" or 6" Concrete Sidewalk. Private Irrigation Systems: While the City will provide notification via a door tag at each address where sidewalk repair is to occur asking the resident to mark any underground irrigation systems, the Contractor must use caution to not damage any underground structures. The Contractor shall be responsible for all damages caused to underground irrigation systems and make any repairs necessary at the Contractor's expense. Safety: The Contractor shall be responsible for complying with all current laws and regulations pertaining to Manhole (Confined Space) Entry, Trenching & Shoring, Work zone Traffic Control, Personal Protective Clothing, etc. as outlined in the Contractor Safety Qualification Statement. Prior to commencement of work, the Contractor shall provide copies of their safety policy and manual and those for all subcontractors for information and reference. Indicate name and position of company safety officer and dates of regular safety meetings. First Aid Training: The Contractor shall have a person on site at all times that has a valid certificate in first aid training. The certificate shall be from the American Red Cross or equivalent training program. A first aid kit shall be provided at the job site and shall be inspected weekly to assure that used items are replaced. This is a requirement of MIOSHA Rule 132. Bid Intent Not Available Purchase Type Term: 07/01/2026 12:00 AM EDT - 06/30/2027 11:59 PM EDT To supply the City of Midland with pricing for repair of City sidewalks for the period of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, in accord with the attached specifications and standard instructions. Bonding Requirements - Bid Bond 5 % A certified check or bid bond for a sum of not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the Proposal will be required with each bid. The City reserves the right to accept or reject all or any parts of any and all bids, to waive irregularities and to award in the best interests of the City of Midland.
