Site work, renovation and addition to an educational facility in Jewell, Iowa. Completed plans call for the addition of a educational facility; and educational facility.

The project consists of an addition and related renovations to the Jr-Sr High School for South Hamilton CSD. The addition includes an entry area, gymnasium space, weight room, concessions, restrooms, and storage/mechanical spaces. The gymnasium shell is to be constructed of precast concrete wall panels, steel joists, and metal deck. The weight room, concessions, restrooms, and entry space shell is to be constructed of CMU cavity walls with brick veneer, metal joists, and metal deck. The work also includes curtain wall, storefront, and fiberglass sandwich panel systems. Civil scope includes replacement of sidewalks and curbs, new sidewalks, landscaping beds, and plantings. Utility relocations and new work are shown in the contract documents. Mechanical scope includes new rooftop mechanical equipment, controls systems, and associated distribution ductwork. Plumbing scope includes overhead and underfloor piping for various spaces, and a new main sprinkler line to service the addition from the sprinkler room within the existing building. Electrical work includes lighting, power, technology infrastructure, and access control. Electrical conduits and fiber cabling will be extended through the existing building to serve the addition. Renovation work includes areas shown on the drawings for routing of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, technology infrastructure, and other improvements or modifications where the existing building meets the addition construction. A single bid will be received for the work of the General Contractor including the work of all subcontractors. Subcontractors of all construction trades shall submit bids to the General Contractors. All sealed lump sum bids prepared in compliance with the Instructions to Bidders must be received at the specified location by the designated time. Bid security in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the bid amount must be submitted with each bid. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of 60 calendar days following the opening of bids. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids, re-advertise, and to waive informalities and irregularities in the bids. Bidders must be properly licensed and be able to obtain required insurance and bonds. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond within ten days after award in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. Contractors and approved subcontractors will be provided a Sales Tax Exemption Certificate to purchase building materials and/or supplies for the construction contract. A pre-construction conference will be held before work commences.
