The scope of this project encompasses the selective demolition and subsequent renovation of three exterior concrete stairs/ramps located at the CHR and Health Services Building in Frankfort, KY. The areas of work are Site A (approximately 1,600 sf), Site B (approximately 700 sf), and Site C (approximately 1,200 sf). The scope includes site clearing, selective demolition, new concrete paving, stairs and ramp, new handrails and guardrails, and site restoration. Work at Site A must adhere to The Secretary of the Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, including salvaging existing granite stairs, providing selective granite crack repair, and resetting granite as indicated on the drawings. All sites will use high performance concrete mix with additives, sealers, non-corrosive reinforcement, and proper drainage design to extend lifespan compared to standard concrete stairs.
