The City of Chelsea Department of Public Works is soliciting bids for replacement of two obsolete boilers with one new high efficiency boiler. The boilers are located in a basement maintenance room of Chelsea City Hall, located at 500 Broadway, Chelsea MA 02150. Scope of Work 1. Properly shut down and disconnect existing gas piping, flue pipe and hot water piping. 2. Make safe, disconnect, remove, and dispose of two (2) Caravan Slant-Fin boilers, model GG399HEC. Properly cap the existing flue pipe. 3. Furnish, rig to location, and install one (1) new high efficiency, natural-gas, condensate boiler sufficient to replace the operation of the Caravan boilers, of a model such as the Lochinvar FTX750N, or equivalent. 4. Furnish and install new vent pipe from new boiler terminating through far window. Furnish and install new spiral fresh air pipe from existing boiler room make up air louver to new boiler intake. Insulated fresh air pipe with fiberglass wrap. 5. Furnish and install new grooved hot water piping. Replacing partial 4" header and 2 1/2" boiler feed piping, to include isolation valves, automatic control valve, strainer, temperature wells, pipe and fittings making for a complete operational system per manufacture's recommendations. 6. Furnish and install a new condensate drain system to include condensate neutralizer kit, condensate pump and condensate pipe to existing utility sink. 7. Properly reconnect gas piping from existing gas main to new unit 8. Test, fill and vent new boiler and piping. Insulate new piping as necessary. 9. Perform start up and commissioning, with factory certified technician as required. 10. Be present onsite for initial inspection by the Massachusetts boiler inspector.
