The contractor shall be fully qualified to work within an occupied, historic campus that remains active with public, staff, and animals. Work includes coordinating specialty trades within a small site footprint; coordinating and installing specialty animal doors, shifting systems, and manually operated remote door controls; coordinating and installing multiple subsurface utility systems in a congested area; coordinating and installing subsurface drainage and water conveyance systems; coordinating and installing radiant flooring; coordinating and installing animal containment fencing and mesh; coordinating and installing shotcrete faux rock and faux trees; mitigating sound and vibration during demolition and construction to avoid harm to animals in adjacent habitats; and coordinating construction activities with zoo operations including feeding schedules, community noise regulations, zoo hours, animal welfare concerns, veterinary care, and public events. The period of performance for the base work and optional work, if exercised, is 26 months from the notice to proceed.
