Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Bourne, Massachusetts. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a manufacturing facility; and industrial development.
A regional food scrap composting facility is being proposed for the Upper Cape region, with Joint Base Cape Cod identified as the preferred site. The facility would serve nearby towns and potentially the base itself. This initiative addresses a long-standing issue on Cape Cod: most food waste currently must be transported off-Cape, increasing costs for towns and limiting sustainability. The development team has identified a 220-acre former military parcel at JBCC that is no longer required for military operations. This parcel is considered ideal due to its size and separation from residential areas. As of March 2, 2026, The project is still in the feasibility and planning phase. Key documents have been drafted and presented, and JBCC continues to be the leading site under consideration. No construction, procurement, or final approval has been publicly reported yet.
