Development of a town-owned parcel of land into diverse housing that addressed community needs and fulfills the Town's commitments under the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF). TIMELINE: Owner has issued a Request for Expressions of Interest for developers. Further update may be confirmed upon award. In response to Bridgewater's housing needs, the Town has committed to proactive measures to accelerate housing development. Through an agreement with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) under the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF), Bridgewater has committed to implementing a Housing Action Plan aimed at incentivizing 100 additional residential units, including 18 units of affordable housing, between 2025 and 2028. A key initiative within this plan is making municipally owned land available for housing development. The Town owns vacant lands no longer required for municipal purposes and has determined that the strategic disposition of these lands for housing represents an important opportunity to address community housing needs while ensuring responsible stewardship of public assets.[AW1.1][SR1.2] The Town is seeking qualified developers and housing organizations to submit a proposal for the development of affordable and attainable housing on municipally owned vacant land in a manner that addresses community housing needs while ensuring responsible stewardship of public assets. The primary purpose of this Expression of Interest (EOI) is to identify qualified developers, housing providers, and development partners interested in acquiring and developing Town-owned lands (PID #60390432) for residential housing that addresses Bridgewater's housing needs.
