The City of Hico, Texas is accepting sealed bids for street repair. The project consists of three main segments: Sycamore Street from Eighth Street to Seventh Street (approximately 640 feet long and 24 feet wide), Seventh Street from Sycamore Street to Hwy 220 (Cedar St) (approximately 680 feet long and 24 feet wide), and First Street from Hemphill Street to the beginning of CR 134 (approximately 918 feet long and 24 feet wide). The work includes pulverizing approximately 6" below the existing surfaces, grading, blending, wetting, and compacting the resulting mix to reach 98% Maximum Dry Density (MDD) Modified Proctor, applying six inches of new road base, shaping to form a crown, and applying two courses of chip seal. Base material must meet or exceed TxDot Type A Grade 1 or Grade 2 requirements. Each coat of chip seal will consist of 4/10 gallon of CRS2 emulsion per square yard and grade #4 chip rock, with streets swept between applications. Ditches will be cleaned or cut on the sides of all streets to provide necessary drainage. The contractor must provide proof of $1 million in general liability insurance and is responsible for all traffic control and citizen access. The entire project is to be completed prior to August 15, 2026. Bidders must field verify actual quantities involved in the project areas.
