A Performance Bond and Labor and Material Bond, each in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price, shall be executed by the successful bidder within ten days after the Notice of Award of Contract has been mailed. Securities or bank or savings and loan certificates of deposit may be substituted for any moneys withheld to ensure performance of the contract, pursuant to Section 22300 of the California Public Contract Code. Bidders shall upload electronic proof of Bid Security with the electronic bid submission and an original hardcopy bid security must be received by the City before the time the bids are due in one of the following forms: a check made payable to the City of El Cajon and certified by a responsible bank, in an amount which shall not be less than 10% of the amount of the bid, or by a surety bond for said amount and so payable, executed by a surety company authorized to do business in the State of California, and satisfactory to said City. The work to be done consists in general of: _ Mobilization, traffic control, NPDES Permit, concrete and asphalt saw cutting, clearing and grubbing, demolition, removal and disposal of existing improvements including sidewalks, driveways, curbs, gutters, asphalt pavement, pavement interlayer fabric, excavated materials, earthwork, erosion control, preparation of subgrade, grading to include excavation and fill, construction of PCC raised median, construction of PCC sidewalks, driveways, curbs and gutters, placing of asphalt concrete on existing base material, curb ramps, construction of a pedestrian crossing, installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFB), landscaping, irrigations, installation of new electrical service, including electrical point of connection to be coordinated with SDG&E, street lighting system, traffic signal modification, utility adjustments, relocation and replacement of all facilities in conflict with the proposed improvements, cleanup, and other work as may be necessary to render the above improvements complete and workable in accordance with the Standard Specifications, these Special Provisions, Plans, and as directed by the City Engineer.
