The project consists of additions and renovations to Winterset Junior High and Senior High School, including new construction of three building additions for wrestling, auditorium, and art/FCS. Interior renovations to existing classrooms, hallways, and mechanical rooms are included, with work such as replacing galvanized water lines, boilers, expansion tanks, lights, ceilings, and door security. Site work, new utilities, parking lots, and drive lanes will also occur. Phase 1A, which is the subject of this issuance, consists of site work, concrete roads/lots, new electrical service, replacement of plumbing lines and equipment, and door security upgrades. The bid packages for Phase 1A are: Earthwork and Site Utilities, Site Concrete, General Trades, Mechanical (HVAC & Plumbing), and Electrical. Bids must be a lump sum for a single bid package. Bids must be submitted on the approved bid form and include bid security equal to five percent of the bid amount, in the required formats. The successful bidder must furnish proof of insurance and performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price within ten days of award. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities as allowed by law. Minority and Targeted Small Business participation is encouraged, and bidders must make a good faith effort to include Certified Iowa Targeted Small Businesses. Preference will be given to products and provisions grown or produced within the State of Iowa. All bids will be governed by Iowa Code and School District Board Policies. Bidders must provide a statement regarding their resident status, as required by Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 156.
