The work involves constructing approximately 1,630 linear feet of 2-inch PVC water main, removing and replacing 1,395 linear feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer main, installing 7 new sanitary sewer manholes, replacing water and sanitary sewer services, and performing other work associated with the water and sewer improvements project. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to the City of New Bern, with the project clearly marked on the outside. All bids must use forms provided and must include the name, address, and license number of the bidder. Each bid must be accompanied by cash or a certified check (drawn on a bank or trust company authorized in North Carolina) payable to the City of New Bern in an amount at least equal to 5 percent of the total bid, as a guarantee that a contract will be entered into. Alternatively, bidders may submit a bid bond in the prescribed form. Contractors must adhere to legislative acts relating to contractor licensing.
