Sealed proposals from General Contractors will be received for New Elementary School #1 (Barton Chapel) by the County Board of Education of Richmond County. Drawings and project manual for the work may be examined at the Department of Maintenance and Facilities. Electronic copies of the bidding documents may be obtained free of charge from the architect upon request by a legitimate bidding general contractor. Printed bidding documents may also be obtained at the office of the Architect with a refundable deposit per set. Contract, if awarded, will be on a lump sum basis. Bids must be accompanied by a bid bond in an amount not less than 5% of the base bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish performance and payment bonds in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive technicalities & informalities. To promote local participation, a database of subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors has been developed by the Program Manager, GMK Associates. Bids shall be submitted and addressed to the County Board of Education of Richmond County. Demolition of an existing school building, and construction of new 112,000 SQFT two-story elementary school facility, of Type IIB construction, fully sprinklered. Construction includes load-bearing masonry walls , with steel roof framing, and low slope roofs. The scope of work includes all related sitework, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
