Site work for a water / sewer project in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
This project will replace the high flow diversion box at the northwest corner of the abandoned secondary clarifiers. The high flow diversion box is used to divert headworks effluent to the second stage (Zone 2) aeration. The high flow diversion box has been modified in several WWTP expansions and is currently leaking in several locations. At West Hickman WWTP, effluent from the headworks facility on the west side of the creek flows to the treatment processes on the east side of the creek via two 48-inch pipes. These two 48-inch pipes discharge into a junction chamber located on the east side of the creek. The biological phosphorus removal (BPR) tanks are immediately downstream of the junction chamber, but the BPR tanks cannot handle the full forward flow of the WWTP. The junction chamber has various compartments and gates that allow the operators flexibility in modulating how much flow is sent to the BPR tanks and how much is diverted to the Zone 2 aeration tanks. The effluent from the junction chamber that is diverted to Zone 2 aeration flows immediately to the high flow diversion box which transitions the piped flow to an open channel conveyance. LFUCG has set a combined minimum MBE and WBE participation goal of seventeen percent (17%) with minimum subgoals of five percent (5%) for MBEs and twelve percent (12%) for WBEs. LFUCG also has a separate minimum three percent (3%) participation goal for VOSBs. The last day for questions to be received from Bidders will be March 13, 2026 at 2:00 P.M.
