Renovation of an educational facility in New Castle, Delaware. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Question Deadline 04/15/2026 Bidders or Sub-bidders requiring clarification or interpretation of the Bidding Documents shall make a written request to the Architect at least sevev days prior to the date for receipt of Bids. *Additional information, including drawings, are available from the architect.* The project involves Secure Vestibule & Classroom Door Hardware Security Upgrade at Gunning Bedford Middle School. The scope consists of replacing the remaining non-secure storefront at the main entrance with a bullet resistance level 3 storefront and doors, as indicated in the construction documents. It also includes upgrading all door hardware of every classroom with retrofit secure code-compliant barricade locks to existing cylindrical lever locks, as indicated in the construction documents. The door schedule should be referred to for doors that need to be repainted. Only General Contractors may submit bids on this project. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security equivalent to ten percent of the bid amount and all additive alternates. The successful bidder must post a performance bond and payment bond in a sum equal to 100 percent of the contract price upon execution of the contract. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities therein. Bidders will not be subject to discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin in consideration of this award, and Minority Business Enterprises, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, Women-Owned Business Enterprises, and Veteran-Owned Business Enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids on this contract. Contract award is expected on May 12th, 2026, once approved at School District Board meeting. Work is expected to start on or about June 15th, and be substantially completed by August 21st, 2026.
