Project work generally consists of, but is not limited to, furnishing of all labor, materials and equipment necessary for the installation of new steel handrails and mid-rails on the catwalk of the Second Structure of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The work to be performed under this Section shall include the furnishing of all labor, materials and equipment necessary for the installation of new steel structures as shown on the plans, including the preparation of all the necessary field measurements and all the other incidental work necessary on the Second Structure as shown on the Plans/Drawings, in accordance with the Specifications and as ordered by the Executive Director. The Contractor shall prepare and submit his proposed sequence of construction in detail to the Executive Director for approval prior to commencing any of the work under the Contract. All construction operations shall reflect the traffic restrictions needed to perform the work. The Contractor shall field verify all existing conditions and dimensions prior to preparing and submitting his shop drawings and shall certify on his shop drawings that the existing conditions and dimensions have been field verified. Materials and construction methods not specifically covered in the Plans/Drawings and Specifications shall be in accordance with the latest edition of "AASHTO LRFD Bridge Construction Specifications". The Contractor shall furnish, fabricate, paint and install new steel handrail and mid-rail for both sides (full length) of the bridge centerline Catwalk of the Approach and Suspended Spans of the Second Structure, exclusive of the Anchorages, as shown on the plans. Including new galvanized removable chains with connecting hardware and removal of existing top rail where shown on the plans. Contractor shall submit for approval a planned method of replacement including any required temporary supports.
