Work under this Contract includes all necessary labor, materials and equipment required to: Replacement of the Westchester County Airport baggage handling system plow merge and upgrades to system controls and associated work. It is not intended that this description of work mention each particular item required, but that it give information concerning the general scope and areas of work for the convenience of the bidder General 1. Provide the design, engineering, fabrication, transportation to/from the site, installation, temporary BHS conditions (i.e., interim BHS equipment and associated control functionality as required to maintain operations), removal, salvage, demolition, refurbishment, modifications, testing, and turning over in working order the BHS described herein and in compliance with these specifications and the contract drawings. 2. Provide a complete, operable, maintainable, and safe system including the following: a. All permanent and temporary/interim supports, anchors, sideguards, and trim. b. Conveyors, motors and electrical power to the BHS from the sources indicated on the accompanying contract drawing package (i.e., from BHS MCP-05 to the associated BHS field components). 1.) Determine the source of control power. The power drawn from new equipment shall not exceed the power required for existing equipment. c. All necessary controls, conduits, photoeyes, wiring and control stations for all specified field components, pushbuttons, indicator lights and alarms. d. All other components, whether specifically shown and described, or implied in the plans and specifications or wherever required to effectively accomplish the intended functions of the BHS scope. 3. In all cases where a device or part of the equipment is herein referred to in the singular number, it is intended that such reference shall apply to as many such devices as are required to satisfactorily complete the installation. 4. Provide all hardware, necessary modifications of the existing system, and construction supervision required for a complete and fully functioning system and communication between the existing and the modified subsystems 5. Submit implementation schedule and associated sequencing plan documentation with the O&M documentation to Westchester County Airport or their representative, including required manuals, equipment parts lists, and shop drawings, all in strict accordance with the specifications and applicable drawings and subject to the terms and conditions of the Contract. 6. The contract drawings are intended to generally outline the conveyor system configuration and desired functions. Pertinent building dimensions are documented along with some specified conveyor dimensions and elevations. Conveyor length and rights-ofway are presented as approximations, but these shall necessarily be determined by review and inspection of BHS existing conditions and building construction drawings (asbuilts) and verified by field measurements by the contractor prior to preparing shop and erection drawings. 7. Coordinate the BHS scope of work with the MEP drawings (e.g., existing ductwork, sprinkler system, facility electrical and plumbing) and architectural detail drawings to fully coordinate the BHS alterations with all the other existing systems. 8. Verify as-built conditions and notify Westchester County Airport or their representative of conflicts. Any additional building modifications or alterations not so identified in the Contract documents shall be borne by the contractor. 9. Submit to Westchester County Airport or their representative any request for information, clarification of specification, and variance from the specifications as a Request for Information (RFI). 10. Obtain and pay for all permits, inspection fees, and certificates relative to all the BHS construction. 11. Be responsible for all employee badges as required by the airport authority for this project. Westchester County Airport shall not provide escort services for employees on the ATO and airport operations area (AOA) side of the facility. 12. Furnish and install all temporary power and lighting required for and during the installation and testing of the BHS. 13. Perform a complete mechanical and electrical field survey of the existing BHS conveyor equipment and maintain consistency with the existing conveyor components, in terms of motors, gearboxes, bearings, belting, field control components, and MCP control components to simplify the spare parts inventory. 14. Develop detailed sequencing plans for the subsystem designated for modification after discussions and coordination with Westchester County Airport or their representative to allow airlines continued use of the BHS system while modifications are ongoing. 15. Temporarily take down any existing supports designated to remain and re-support existing conveyor line segments, conduits, junction boxes, control stations, and other electrical and control components required to accommodate the planned reconfiguration, and demolition required as part of the overall construction/installation sequenced plan. 16. All temporary and final conveyor equipment supports shall be designed, engineered, and installed so as not to infringe on the AOAs, including drive aisles, cart staging areas and O&M operations. 17. Upon completion of the BHS installation, all related programming, and internal testing/debugging, demonstrate the system's operating capability to Westchester County Airport or their representative for acceptance to confirm compliance with the requirements detailed in Part 4 herein. 18. It is recommended to visit the project site prior to submitting the proposal to thoroughly become acquainted with the scope of work and installation restrictions directly associated with the existing area of the facility. Coordinate a pre-proposal walkthrough with Westchester County Airport or their representative. The following requirements associated with the existing BHS modifications should be reviewed and surveyed during this site visit: a. Existing conveyor line modifications/reconfigurations. b. BHS computer system modifications and reporting functionality changes located in the BHS control room (BCR). c. MDS modifications in the BCR. d. PLC system modification requirements e. Methods to eliminate or minimize BHS downtime and maintain BHS operations
